Community Development

Providing a multitude of opportunities for the region’s local community

The Monsoon Wind Power Project is a 600MW wind power project, which will be located in the Sekong and Attapeu provinces of Lao PDR. The project will deliver the generated renewable electricity to Central Vietnam through its 500kV transmission line and could offset over 35 million tons of CO2 throughout its lifetime.

IEAD understands and values the community in the area and has been engaged with the community members since 2011. We have worked with both the local and international consultants in creating the Community Development Plan to ensure that our Project benefits the community. The plan includes providing job opportunities for villagers, increasing access to healthcare and education, providing scholarships, providing clean water, rural electrification, Gender Action Plan, and training for agriculture and husbandry. The detailed Community Development Plan is currently being finalized by ERM, IEAD’s international environmental and social consultant, and will be posted on our and ADB’s website within October 2022.
